As a teenager, I loved playing Sierra's King's Quest and Space Quest series of computer games. Sometimes, however, the sheer number of volumes in these series felt overwhelming. How many times do the bad guys have to be defeated before they just call it quits? When will the hero ever get a chance to rest? Although I drew this sketch in reference to video game sequels, the idea applies equally well to never-ending film franchises (Star Wars, Star Trek, or all those Marvel superhero flicks).
Someday I'd like to create a video game franchise called "Sequel Quest" and start it at some high episode number, then work my way backwards till I get to Sequel Quest 1. Of course, there are a lot of things on my "I'd like to do" list. Whether or not I actually do it will be a question of priorities.
